Nokia Music and BT Openzone, a British wifi provider, have announced a contest that will land winners in the heart of the action at this year's South by Southwest Music Festival.
To participate, entrants must first purchase a BT Openzone internet voucher of at least 90 minutes from the BT Openzone website. Upon purchase, the customer will be provided with a link to the Nokia Music Store registration page and must register with Nokia Music Store. Once they've registered, entrants will receive five free music downloads and be entered to win the trip.
The contest will run through December 8th, at which point one winner will be selected at random from all eligible entries. The winner will receive round trip transportation for him and a guest from London to Austin, Texas, four nights at a bed and breakfast and "tickets" to the festival.
Nowhere in the rules of the contest does the promoter mention whether "tickets" means a Platinum Badge, Music Badge, or merely a wristband. The contest is limited to UK residents.
Contests such as this continue to be a relatively inexpensive way for advertisers to get young music fans subscribed to their services. As the festival draws closer, more and more "register to win a free trip to SXSW" contests are likely to be announced.
