The world needs more CO2, not less

Leighton Steward, author of a new book called Fire, Ice, and Paradise, is a geologist who is bringing up some very interesting points about the global warming debate, especially with the "cap-and-trade" bill that is being eagerly pushed through the corrupt halls of Congress. Steward has been in the Capitol this week arguing that what the world needs is more carbon dioxide emissions, not less.

Much of the global warming debate has focused on reducing CO2 emissions because it is thought that the greenhouse gas produced mostly from fossil fuels is warming the planet. But Steward, who once believed CO2 caused global warming, is trying to fight that with a mountain of studies and scientific evidence that suggest CO2 is not the cause for warming. What's more, he says CO2 levels are so low that more, not less, is needed to sustain and expand plant growth.

Trying to debunk theories that higher CO2 levels cause warming, he cites studies that show CO2 levels following temperature spikes, prompting him to back other scientists who say that global warming is caused by solar activity.

Steward is correctly warning lawmakers that such a bill to reduce carbon emissions would do incredible damage to the economy since it would essentially be one of the largest tax increases in history. He also brings up the rarely discussed point that decreases in CO2 would slow food production, because plants grown with higher levels of carbon dioxide make larger fruits and vegetables and use less water.*

Steward is not alone in his belief that carbon dioxide emissions are responsible for global warming, I'm sorry, "climate change." Despite the claims of a former Vice President, this is not a "consensus" issue, and the debate is not over. Just ask the 31,478 scientists who signed a petition to the US government rejecting this supposed "consensus."

Global warming is a key issue to liberals and to the thousands of people who will gain lots of money and power once legislation curbing carbon emissions is passed. Like the threat of "terrorism" to conservatives, it is a weapon used to inspire fear and panic, and these two emotions tend to coincide perfectly with the restriction of liberty and the centralization of power and control.

*If we want a greener and more beautiful planet, then we need more, not less, carbon dioxide in the air. Steward's non-profit group, "Plants Need CO2," has some great information about this.

"Climate change" has become a religion to a lot of people. Speaking the truth about it is as popular as pointing out that nothing supernatural exists (by definition). Keep up the good work and keep irritating the bleeting sheep.
