Comic Con 2010 Recap: 'Transformers' star Tyrese Gibson introduces costumes from 'Mayhem' comic book

Actor-singer Tyrese Gibson has been one busy guy over the years. The star of the summer blockbusters franchises "Transformers" and "Fast and Furious", both of which he will be appearing in the movies upcoming sequels, can now add comic book creator and author to his resume.

In conjuction with this year's Comic Con, the actor helped launch retailer's Party City's new "MAYHEM!" character costumes, created by Gibson himself.

The line of costumes were offered exclusively in the San Diego market and online at Partycity.com, the costume launch was just in for visitors of Comic Con to view and purchase.

Gibson was on hand at the Chula Vista Party City location to greet fans and help introduce the line. A limited number of the costumes are available on the store's website.

In the premise for the comic book, MAYHEM! is set on the streets of Los Angeles, where a brutal crime wave, led by the mysterious Big X, has the entire city in a state of perpetual fear. With even the police force unable to stop him, Mayhem, a faceless vigilante with only his partner Malice and an unrelenting vengeance to back him up, strikes back against the criminal hordes and restores peace to the City of Angels.

Image Comics,which publishes the comic, is enthusiastic about working with Gibson to create and publish what could be the next big thing since Spider-Man.

Image Comics President Todd McFarlane said about Mayhem" in a statement, "With the current state of the comic book industry, any new infusion of excitement or customers would be a welcome relief. Tyrese brings both of those to the table along with his unbridled enthusiasm. Image is looking forward to having a long sustained run with him on MAYHEM and some of the other ideas he's talked about for the future."
