Mail Online reports that Michael Jackson used a powerful combination of prescription drugs on a daily basis.
They report the following daily intake:
Demerol via injection, twice a day
Vistaril via injection, twice a day
Dilaudid, 3mg, twice a day
Xanax, 250mg
Zoloft, 100mg
Ritalin, 10mg
Prozac, 20mg
Prilosec, no dosage given (medication used for heartburn/indigestion)
The above combination is highly unusual. The combined power of these drugs would require that he be monitored closely, as the Demerol, Vistaril, and Diluadid are powerful narcotics that on their own have powerful sedative properties. Used together, they can be a dangerous combination, not to mention the danger of using them in conjunction with a powerful benzodiazepine (a tranquilzer that produces sedation and muscle relaxation, Xanax is in this category) and anti-depressants. Ritalin is a central nervous system stimulant with similar qualities to cocaine or methamphetamine. It is most commonly used to treat attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder in children. In adults, it has been used as a chemical replacement therapy for methamphetamine and cocaine addicts. It also is used to counteract opioid-induced drowsiness.
If what Mail Online reported is accurate, the above represents someone in massive amounts of pain, not only physically, but emotionally. The inventory includes both a stimulant, as well as depressants.
It is still speculative to say that any of these medications had anything to do with the singer's death. Toxicology reports are still pending.
Do you think you have a chemical dependency problem? Addiction kills and destroys promising lives in the process. Resources in Nashville are available. For more info see: Cumberland Heights Nashville or Samaritan Recovery Community Nashville or see bio for contact information.

Thank you for this article. Awareness of the potency of these drugs is badly needed, especially the often overlooked benzodiazepines such as Xanax. I think there may be an error re the dosage of Xanax as 250 mg is more than 60 times the recommended maximum daily dose. Although based on speculation this is still very important information. Much appreciated.
