Layering has become a wildly popular trend in recent years, going from “hobo-chic” to tres chic. When done properly, layering is a great way to accentuate curves while elongating your body and creates an effortless yet sophisticated casual look. Moreover it's a stylish technique to stay warm during these cold winter months. According to Wikipedia.com, “two thin layers can be warmer yet lighter than one thick layer, because the air trapped between layers serves as thermal insulation.
Here are a few great examples of how to layer this year:
1.) Thin Knits: The number one rule to layering is to use thin tops for the inner layer
· thin tops like cotton tees
· thin knitted sweaters like cashmere blends
· blouses or button downs
· Long tank tops
· Sweater dress

2.) Vests: long or short, structured for a suit or loose like a sweater, vests can be a great additional middle layer that adds more style. Try these:

3.) Blazers, Jackets and Open Sweaters: For the outer layer, lock in the warmth from the other layers with a jacket or cardigan.

4.) Show all the layers: This is key for any layered ensemble – make sure each layer peaks out. Here’s how:
· Alternate colors
· Mix textures – silk, cotton, and other natural textiles
· Use patterns and prints
5.) Accessorizing: Lastly, have fun with your layered outfit by finishing it off with an accessory. Try one of these:
· Long necklaces
· Bangles
· Scarf
