The second winner of Couture Expression’s “Washington’s Stylish Fashionista Contest” has been announced. This week’s winner is Tiffany Gill of Forestville, MD. As the winner this week, Tiffany will receive an accessories gift bag from D.C.’s Fly Betty Boutique (1935 11th Street NW, Washington DC 20001).
Tiffany won the contest in figure-flattering strapless dress that demonstrates her fashion prowess and confidence. However it was encouragement from friends that led Tiffany to enter the contest.
Tiffany chooses a unique term to describe her sense of style and how she conveys herself through fashion.
“I would say I am expressively fashionable. To me fashion, art and style are all expressions of who you are. I love to take risks and try new things.”
In fact, her mantra about fashion is rather individualistic. She makes no pretense about choosing what she likes rather than clamoring to the latest trend.
“…sometimes following trends will leave you looking like a clone of everyone else. I am not one who thinks something has to be name-brand to be fashionable. I can take a two-dollar dress and make it look like it cost $200...that's what fashion is about.”
Tiffany makes sound investments in staple pieces, as she believes no woman’s wardrobe is complete without “a fashionable bag.”
As a native New Yorker, Tiffany believes DC’s style “is one that is distinctive of the people and the culture.” She feels DC has a unique position “at the forefront of the urban fashion movement,” because of the “many talented designers and chic boutiques,” the area has to offer.
It’s no surprise this stylish lady is also a teacher, as she has much fashion wisdom to impart.
