Cystic fibrosis is a hereditary disease that causes the mucus in one's body to become quite thick. Since it is so thick and sticky, it builds up in the body, primarily the pancreas and or lungs. With the build up of the mucus, it can cause many difficulties for someone who has CF. Digestion issues, growth stunts, developmental problems, are just a few of the possible complications that can occur. The more serious side effect, though, is the damage it does to the lungs. Someone who has cystic fibrosis will have breathing issues, possibly develop lung disease, or even die. The average life expectancy is only thirty six years old.
Currently there is no cure for cystic fibrosis, but it most certainly is possible! Without money for research, however, this is unattainable. That is why companies like Courtney's are so important. She began Court's Custom Jewelry because her own son has been diagnosed with CF. She knows first hand how important finding a cure for this disease is.
