A northern Michigan woman has recreated Leonardo da Vinci's "The Last Supper" using an unusual household product, dryer lint.
Laura Bell, an amateur artist from Roscommon Michigan, was inspired to recreate the famous painting after seeing another lint display at a Ripley's Museum in Wisconsin 10 years ago, according to the Ripley's website.
Bell estimates that she spent 700 to 800 hours collecting lint, and another 200 making the 14 foot wide by 4 foot high mural. She told Ripley's that all of the lint is the actual color of the lint, and it was not dyed or colored.
“For some people, it’s a very spiritual experience,” Bell said, “Others are simply amazed at what someone could do with basic laundry lint.”
The mural was purchased by Ripley's Believe it or not and will go on display in one of their 32 odditoriums around the world.
