Maryland State Senator Lisa Gladden
The dark clouds hanging over the “Free State” (a blatant misnomer if there ever was one) are not related to the blustery winter weather rolling across the country.
No, the foreboding skies gathering above Maryland are due to the 90-day General Assembly session that began this past Wednesday.
When the Maryland General Assembly meets each January, citizens of our great state are sure to be blessed with a reduction in civil liberties (we have a law forcing eight year-olds to ride in car seats), an increase in taxes (the last gathering saw an increase in our sales tax), and something as silly as last year’s State Exercise legislation (umm, walking) or State Dessert bill (the Smith Island cake).
But apparently, poverty, crime, taxes, homelessness, and unemployment are of secondary concern to Baltimore State Senator Lisa Gladden, a democrat, who showed up at the opening of the General Assembly session sporting a flashy Obama watch.
But it wasn’t so much the accoutrements she was wearing, it was what she said to a reporter from the local Fox affiliate (Fox 45) that rings of the thoughtless and all too often clueless nature of our elected officials.
Gladden, in a video interview you can see here, told the intrepid political reporter, “It doesn’t matter if the state of Maryland is broke as long as Barack Obama is going to be President of the United States – this is great!”
Not so great if you’ve just lost a job, your home, your 401k or your health insurance.
But to Lisa Gladden, it doesn’t matter if we starve in the streets; nor does it matter that Maryland state workers are being furloughed; nor does it matter that crime in the city she represents is among the worst in the country; nor does it matter that her mayor (Sheila Dixon) has been indicted on charges ranging from theft to perjury; nor does the $1 billion dollar shortfall facing the state.
As long as Obama is president we can just put on our rose-colored eyewear, hold hands, and enjoy the ride to hell in our Barack-logoed handbasket.
Here’s hoping Senator Gladden heads the committee that oversees Obama’s historic Inaugural Day walk across the waters of the Reflecting Pool.

This story is evidence of just what social codeling of the terminally stupid have wroght in this country. We've managed ( over the past 40 years) to convince people that theroy and pie in the sky is achievable if only we throw out what is proven to work, and replace it with good intentions and day dreams of an alternate reality. Utopia!

I think Senator Gladden's sentiments are pretty typical of how Democrats feel about the economy and the state of things in our nation. It doesn't matter. None of that matters. What's important is that Obama is president! And of course people who don't feel the same about it are all labelled racists or haters

Marylanders! Fire these people! Stop electing them! Throw them all out of office! You are just screwing yourselves by electing them. Here's some of the f'd-up logic of the Dems running this state: Make the death penalty illegal for convicted smoking-gun killers but keep the death penalty legal for innocent, defenseless unborn people in the form of legalized abortion.
We'll all be drinking that free bubble up and eating that rainbow stew...isn't that how the song goes. The election of Obambi the Messiah (TM) signals the start of a hoax that P.T. Barnum would be proud of, and Maryland State Senator Lisa Gladden is just one of the the multitude of rubes that have bought into it hook, line and sinker. With the ascension (er, sorry) inaguration of B.O. all her worries have been driven from her tiny mind by rainbow colored (is it still ok to use that word ?) unicorns.
