The former pastor of a very large Tampa church was arrested on suspicion of DUI late Saturday night in Tampa.
Randy Alan White, the former pastor of Without Wall International Church, was arrested at 11:26 p.m. while heading south on I-275 near Ashley Street. According to the police report, 53-year-old White registered a .93 and a .95 BAC at the scene.
The divorce of Randy White and Paula White, both whom were founding pastor’s at the WWIC, became major national news back in 2007 after the couple’s extravagant assets were made public. According to Crosswalk.com, TBO stated that the couple owned a house on Tampa’s lush Bayshore Blvd. which was valued at $2.2 million. The couple also owned a condo in New York’s Trump Tower which was valued at $3.5 million, in addition to receiving annual salaries of $3 million combined.
After the couples divorce, Paula left for Texas as Randy stayed in Tampa, attempting to hold on to a congregation that, on the surface, appeared cheated.
Randy stepped down from the church in 2009 for health reasons, his ex-wife Paula coming back to the church to take over as senior Pastor.
"I have some serious health issues right now," said White in an interview with Tampabay.com. "I've had six different doctors say that I had to take the stress, the pressure out of my life. So I've resigned, and Paula's taking over."
Randy’s 30-year-old daughter, Kristen Renee Hernandez-White, died in 2008 due to a rare form of brain cancer, eight months after her diagnosis.
Randy White was released on $500 bond Sunday morning at around 7:59 a.m. He was charged with Driving Under the Influence, a second-class misdemeanor.
