Oneida has manufactured a line of flatware over the years under the name, "Community". The line includes several patterns, some made of stainless steel and some made of silver plate. What's interesting to me is the origin of this name.
Oneida was founded in 1848 as a Utopian community, more like a commune than a company. Property was shared among the residents and "family" life took on some interesting twists. The operation continued like this for about thirty years until dissension forced a reorganization into a more traditional corporation.
