Stephen Moyer tells Access Hollywood that he gave up on reading the Southern Vampire Mystery Novels.
He says, "I have read book 3, but it's kind of got to the point now where it's not even worth reading the books anymore because although that they're the framework for the show, they're not how the show wears."
The Southern Vampire Mystery Novels by Charlaine Harris are the books that HBO's True Blood is based on. Though the show follows the books loosely, Stephen does have a point. They are really nothing like the show. The characters are all pretty much the same- though some are missing, and others have been added (like Jessica Hamby). True Blood has definitely gone off-course from the books, however, both are delightful. And if it wasn't for Charlaine Harris, we wouldn't have our favorite show!
