I'd been keeping an eye on Comedy Central's website. The page for The Colbert Report lists the upcoming guests so I checked in periodically to see when King's name popped up as I assumed he would be the interviewee for the closing segment of whatever episode he appeared in.
Such was not the case, the tricksy hobbitses snuck him into the middle of Wednesday's episode (December 16) in a new segment called Better know a Stephen. Well played, clerks.
It was a funny segment. Colbert poked fun at the old retirement announcement 10 years ago and included an interesting parody of Kubrick's The Shining.
Much is discussed, such as Stephen's relation to Larry King, the similarties between The Stand and Stand By Me, and gay terrorists. Under the Dome gets brought up at the end, but it isn't really the focus of the interview. If you haven't seen it yet, I suggest checking it out, it's pretty funny.
You can watch the whole episode on Comedy Central's website.
