Celebrate Independence Day downtown or with many other events happening in Indianapolis

There are many ways to celebrate your independence this year! Don't forget to pack the snacks and maybe even a jacket, if we continue with this chilly weather. While you are waiting for the festivities to start, take a chance to remind your kids why we are celebrating the 4th of July, why we celebrate with fireworks and what our flag means to our country. *Answers are: we signed the Declaration of Independence on July 4th, 1776 freeing us from Great Britain; fireworks are symbolic to the fighting that we endured to gain our freedom, and the American Flag is a symbol of pride in our country.*

July 2nd - The Children's Museum of Indianapolis - FREE admission from 4-8pm sponsored by Target

July 3rd - Harrison Center for the Arts - FREE from 6-9 pm Stars and Stripes or Whatever; Indianapolis Museum of Art - Summer Nights film series "Goonies" - 6pm $9, $5 members, $5 12 & under; Carmel Fest at Carmel Civic Square; Glorious Fourth at Conner Prairie - FREE 10am -5 pm

JULY 4th! - Indianapolis Freedom Blast - fireworks, food, and festivities downtown Indianapolis fireworks to start at 9:47pm; Wheel Fun Rentals ($5 off); Old Fashioned Ice Cream Social 11:30 - 3:30 at President Benjamin Harrison Home; The Eiteljorg Museum of American Indians & Western Art - FREE admission and additional family-focused activities from 4:30 - 9 p.m. along the Canal; Indiana State Museum - Independence in Indiana from 4:30 - 9 p.m. - FREE family-oriented activities. The Indiana Historical Society - FREE Concerts on the Canal at the American College of Sports Medicine featuring The Indianapolis Municipal Band at 5 p.m. and The Impalas at 7:30 p.m; Lions Club at Lions Park - 4th of July celebration in Zionsville; Glorious Fourth at Conner Prairie - FREE 10am -5pm (Stars and Stripes Symphony and fireworks are later, ticket prices are on their website); Parade and fireworks festival in Noblesville starting at 5 pm there will be music, kids activities, and food; Carmel Fest at Carmel Civic Square

July 5th - Cicero's 175th Birthday Celebration at Community Park and Red Bridge Park; Glorious Fourth at Conner Prairie - FREE 11am - 5pm.
