More stay-at-home moms are feeling the pressure to return to work due to today‘s declining economy. Maybe their spouse was laid off or had a decrease in their work hours to where their salary is just not enough to pay for the mortgage, groceries and other bills anymore. With situations such as these the only alternative may be for the moms to go to work to supplement their income and make ends meet.

This decision can be very difficult for many moms and for several reasons. One being that some moms have been home with their children for an extended period and may have even planned on always being home with them, thus never obtaining the education, skills or degrees that are required by most employers in todays work field. Another reason this is so difficult is the fact that they would have less time with their kids. This can be difficult on the children as well since they have grown accustomed to having mom at home and having her much devoted time and attention. There is also the fact that the children would most likely need to be put into a daycare while mom and dad work. This means another added expense for the family.

There are options for moms to consider that may keep them at home and also bring in the extra income needed to help their family. And all of these solutions will allow them to pick their own hours and be able to continue spending the much needed time with their children that they need and deserve.

One option for moms to consider is selling on Ebay. This can be a very profitable option. Go to your attic, garage, basement or even your closet and find items that you no longer use, need, or wear and put them up for the bidding. You may be surprised at how much someone would bid on that old vintage leather you haven’t worn in years, or those gently used clothes that your kids have outgrown. Not only is Ebay a great way to bring in the extra income but it is also a great way to save money on items you may need. Before you go to the store to purchase an item check on Ebay first. You could find an amazing deal! Muskegon Community College holds a continuing education class on how to buy and sell on Ebay.

If you’re a mom who likes to write then you may consider freelance writing. Some sites such as Associated Content will pay you to write articles on just about anything. Sign-up is free and all you need to do is submit your articles. If your article is chosen for publication you will be paid between $3.00-$40.00 an article with an average of $10.00 an article. If you have a lot of knowledge about a certain subject then you may consider starting a blog. Many services will start a blog for free as well. And if you sign-up with Google Adsense ad companies will find ads relevant to your subject and will pay you to post their ads to your site. This is an excellent way to drive traffic to your site as well.

Another option is for those moms who may have an interest or hobby in crafts. Maybe you sew, knit, make homemade bath products such as soaps, bath salts or any other homemade product. Why not turn that hobby into a cash business? Etsy.com is a craft website where people can put their homemade items up for sale. Another site, midwestcraftconnection.com will actually create a free personal webpage designed just for you with up to nine of your craft items. For a small fee they will include a shopping cart or can create an inexpensive custom made website with up to twenty-seven of your items. If you have had an interest in learning how to make a certain craft or crafts, call your local craft store and see if they hold any classes. Joann Fabrics & Crafts in Muskegon is one such store that holds classes on how to make different items such as jewelry. They also have all of the supplies you will need to get started.

If you live in a neighborhood where there are other children, or have friends with children, there is always an option that has been tried and true for many years. Babysitting. You could offer your services to watch your friends or neighbors children whether it be while they work or if they just want to take an evening to themselves. This may even be the best option if you are babysitting children that are around your own childrens age. Not only will you be bringing in money but your children will have playmates!

These are all great options to help you to stay home with your children and make money to help your family at the same time. Your children will never be that young again so enjoy every special moment while you can.
