Mocha Moms, Inc., a national support organization for stay-at-home moms of color, has launched a letter writing campaign to land Michelle Obama as the keynote speaker of their national conference this summer.
Mocha Moms, Inc. are following the lead of the University of California at Merced, the newest and smallest campus in the Cali

fornia state university system, who wooed the First Lady with thousands of letters to be the university's first commencement speaker in May 2009. It was the only college commencement address the First Lady chose to make.
Mrs. Obama has said that her primary occupation right now is "Mom in Chief" which resonates with Mocha Moms nationwide, regardless of their political affiliation. Mocha Moms, Inc., a 501-3(c) charity, counts 4,000 members across the country, including over 500 in the Metro Atlanta area. They hope to have representatives from every chapter at the conference which will be held from July 30 through August 2, 2009 in Chicago, IL, Mrs. Obama's hometown.
The theme for this year's conference is "Managing the Family Business - Making Ends Meet." The organization holds a national conference every two years to gather members together and offer a weekend of insight, support, and fun. Their last national conference, held in 2007 in Atlanta, featured actress and philanthropist Holly Robinson Peete as the keynote speaker.
