Finger Lakes tourism offers winter specials

Two weeks from now, visitors to the Finger Lakes Wine Country will have a chance for special tourism deals as part of a new promotion.

Tourists are being encouraged to “Stay Another Day” through March 21, 2010, a new facet of the "Winter Wine Weekends" program.

It is a buy-two-nights-get-one-free offer at participating facilities. In addition to the extra night at no charge, guests will receive a complimentary bottle of Finger Lakes wine and a Finger Lakes Wine Country PALATE Passport with each Winter Wine Weekend reservation. The promotion begins Monday, January 4.

The PALATE Passports offer a variety of coupons for discounts and deals at wineries, attractions, and restaurants throughout Finger Lakes Wine Country. In addition to the PALATE Passports, the first 200 Winter Wine Weekend packages sold will also include a Polar Passport from the Seneca Lake Wine Trail and the first 100 packages will include a Vino Visa Coupon Book from the Cayuga Wine Trail.

The Corning Museum of Glass will be offering visitors free admission when you buy one, and the Rockwell Museum of Western Art is offering free admission for two adults. Other offers include a free glass of wine when you buy one at the Blue Point Grille or the Coldwater Bar at the Watkins Glen Harbor Hotel; a free Watkins Glen International T-shirt at The Shop in downtown Watkins Glen; free dessert with the purchase of an entrée at Veraisons Restaurant at the Inn at Glenora; plus free wine tasting and discounts at Dr. Frank’s Vinifera Wine Cellars, Glenora Wine Cellars, Fox Run Vineyards, Hazlitt 1852 Vineyards, and Heron Hill Winery.

The list of accommodations, attractions, restaurants, and wineries participating in the Winter Wine Weekends “stay another day” promotion can be found online. Details also are available by phone at (800) 813-2958.

Finger Lakes Wine Country includes three wine trails with more than 100 wineries. Go here for information on all of the state's official wine trails.
