A leading climate change scientist said hackers breaking into a university's computer server and then posting documents online show the nasty politics of global warming.Kevin Trenberth, head of the climate analysis section of the U.S. National Center for Atmospheric Research in Boulder, said the hackers' intentions may have been to influence discussions in an upcoming global climate change summit in Denmark.

A Colorado Springs doctor who was caught selling prescription drugs to undercover officers has been sentenced in a separate case, in which he was accused of charging $300 to fill out paperwork so someone could get a medical marijuana registry card.Peter W.S. Grigg pleaded guilty Monday to a state charge of attempting to influence a public servant and was sentenced to five years of probation. The 49-year-old anesthesiologist also was ordered to serve 250 hours of community service.

Newmont Mining has agreed to sell a 14 percent stake in an Indonesian gold mine for $494 million, ending a years-long dispute with the Indonesian government over how the mining company should sell shares as required under its contract to operate in the country.Newmont shares ownership of the Batu Hijau mine with Japan's Sumitomo Corp. and Indonesia's PT Pukuafu Indah. The Denver-based company says it will transfer the stake to private company PT Multicapital and PT Multi Daerah Bersaing, a consortium of regional and local Indonesian governments.

Newmont Mining Corp. says its Indonesian joint venture has agreed to transfer a 14 percent stake to a private company and to a consortium of regional and local Indonesian governments, with proceeds totaling about $494 million.Denver-based Newmont said Monday that a 14 percent stake in PT Newmont Nusa Tenggara will be transferred to PT Multi Daerah Bersaing, which is made of governments near the company's Batu Hijau mine, and to the private company PT Multicapital.

A woman who says she was raped by a classmate who later was tied to a sex-and-drugs scandal at the University of Colorado asked the Colorado Supreme Court on Monday to review a prosecutor's decision not to file criminal charges.Julie Stene says two classmates, one of whom later played football for CU, had sex with her after she had six to eight shots of vodka at a high school graduation party in 2000. She says she was too drunk to consent. Both men have denied wrongdoing.

A Denver judge ruled Monday there is not enough evidence to revoke the bond of a woman accused of driving drunk and killing two Connecticut librarians on their way to the airport.Sandra Jacobson was arrested and sent to jail last week after a college classmate told authorities he saw her driving away from the Colorado Technical University campus. That prompted prosecutors to allege that she violated conditions of her $250,000 bond, and they asked that it be revoked.

A juvenile suspected of joining several other people in videotaping a series of robberies and assaults in Denver has been arrested.Police said Monday that the juvenile, whose name wasn't released, was arrested in Indiana.
