The Sports Stock Market, Star Street Sports, is a TechStars baby based in Boston. CEO, Jeremy Levine is one of the smartest guys I know. Lucky for him, he scored one really awesome feature in CNN.
They are currently in beta mode where you can buy and trade stock in your favorite team and use their system and a really fun way to interact with the World Cup.
The business recently demoed at TechCrunch Disrupt in NYC and at TechStar's Demo Night at Microsoft's NERD Center in Cambridge.
Hopefully, I can find some marketplace out there to buy some shares in Star Street Sports because I am fairly confident they will be the Boston's golden child in a few years.
Right now, the Star Street's market support shares purchased in play money, but the hope is to turn the business into an actual stock market for sports teams when users put in real money and get real money back. While there are a lot of legal complications, it seems that Star Streets has it all figured out.
Which team will you be betting stocks in?
