The recruits just keep saying they are coming to Stanford. After a wild week last week, the good news continues for Stanford football as defensive back Devon Carrington says he is going to be a Cardinal.
The 6-1, 185-pound safety registered 77 tackles, four sacks and two interceptions in his junior campaign. As a sophomore he made 42 tackles with one sack and an interception in just six games.
Scout.com lists him as 19th in the country at the safety position and grants him 4-stars. Rivals.com lists him as 26th and gives him 3-stars.
Carrington is the 6th member of the ESPN 150 watch list to commit to Stanford.
Carrington made these comments to ESPN’s Greg Biggins about why he is chose Stanford:
"Stanford was my first offer and they have been the school recruiting me harder than anyone else from the beginning. I really like all their coaches and I like the direction the program is going in. I've always wanted to go to Stanford and lately, I started to think more about life after football and Stanford offers so much in that regard. Plus they were starting to fill up their class pretty fast and I didn't want to risk losing my spot. I still want to take some official visits to other schools, but my commitment is firm and I'm excited to be a Cardinal."
Carrington turned down just about every other Pac-10 school (USC, UCLA and OSU did not offer) as well as Northwestern and Notre Dame to declare for Stanford. With 21 verbals now, it seems clear that those considering Stanford must make a quick decision while space is still available.
