The Oregon Ducks beat Oregon State 37-33 in the Civil War to earn the Pac-10 Championship and a trip to the Rose Bowl. So where does that mean Stanford football will be spending the Holidays?
The final outcome will not be determined until the Cal/Washington and USC/Arizona games are played tomorrow.
In all likelihood though, Stanford is on its way to the Emerald Bowl, although they still have a shot at the Sun Bowl.
The Beavers losing guaranties at least a three way tie for second with the USC/Arizona winner, Stanford and then Cal if they win.
The Holiday Bowl is expected to take the winner of the USC/Arizona game. The Sun Bowl goes next. Oregon State is not eligible for the Sun Bowl as they played there last week and the Sun Bowl has a no repeat clause. That means the Sun Bowl would likely take Cal if eligible. One would think the Emerald Bowl would then stay local and select Stanford.
However, Cal does play on the road. if Washington pulls the upset then the Sun Bowl would have no choice but to take Stanford (assuming the Holiday Bowl takes the USC/Arizona winner).
So there is still much riding on tomorrow’s football games for all teams involved. Right now it certainly looks like Stanford will be playing on December 26th in San Francisco. But that could certainly change by the time the weekend is over.

Stanford is going to the Sun Bowl. Deal basically done if you believe the sources of Cal kicker David Seawright who writes for the student paper Daily Californian (Follow DavidSeawright on Twitter).
I suspect the Cal boosters and alums may have pressured the Cal AD to decline an invitation to the Sun Bowl in favor of the San Francisco (Emerald) Bowl.
SF Bowl will have to swap picks with Vegas and/or Poinsettia Bowls to pick Cal if Cal were to lose to Washington.
I saw that tweat. Interesting info if it is right. Not sure how much authority a University has in turning down an assigned selection. It is my understanding that it is the Bowl game's choice. Now what happens behind the scenes? Who really knows?
