Stanford has reinstated guard Jeremy Green, who had been suspended following his arrest on possible domestic violence, according to the San Jose Mercury-News.
Green accompanied the team when it departed Thursday for Friday's opener at San Diego, and he probably will play against the Toreros. Whether he will start is uncertain, and may depend on the health of guard Drew Shiller, who has been bothered by a pulled hamstring. It may also depend on Green's ankle, which he sprained two weeks ago.
Green was never charged with a crime, although the case reportedly is still under inviestigation. However, if charges were not filed by this time, it seems unlikely they will.
"He hasn't been charged, so it's hard to keep him on suspension," Stanford coach Johnny Dawkins told the Mercury-News.
The addition of Green will give the Cardinal at least seven scholarship players for the opener, and it would be eight if Shiller can play.
Green presumably will work his way into the starting lineup, if not on Friday, then probably in the home opener against Cal Poly on Sunday.
Green is expected to be the team's No. 2 scorer, behind Landry Fields, and his addition also gives the Cardinal an important perimeter threat, because he is the team's best three-point shooter.
There is no change in the status of Josh Owens, who remains sidelined with an undisclosed medical condition at least until all test results have been analyzed.

This is great news! Without Green this team would have been toast. As far as Owens, it doesn't look good. It doesn't take this long to analyze test results unless something is up... I wish him well.
Wow, what a releif for Green. I hope everything works out in end.
