St. Louis Rams running back Steven Jackson has reportedly been cleared of his domestic violence charge involving Supriya Harris according to a report by TMZ.  According to the report by the celebrity gossip site Las Vegas police say that there is "simply not enough evidence to move forward with the case."

As I stated two weeks ago the story seemed very fishy to say the least.  If this truly did happen, the way Supriya Harris claimed, then why did Harris wait almost 10 months to file a report to police?  It sounded like an attempt to ruin a person's life or a way to try to extort more money.  The sad part for Jackson, if this isn't true, is that he can't put the genie back in the bottle.  The story is now out there in the public and there will be a belief by some that he did attack the woman.

You can look at this story both ways.  The police didn't have enough evidence, even though it did happen, and they can't prosecute or the police didn't have enough evidence because the event didn't transpire the way Harris said it did.  Either way Jackson looks bad unless he files a lawsuit saying that Harris has slandered him and he is awarded damages from the court.  It would be a long shot for Jackson to file a suit like that considering she is the mother of his child, and to win a case like that would be extremely difficult.

I think when it is all said and done Rams fans learned another lesson about hero worship.  We don't really ever know what goes on in the private lives of these athletes.  I have personally witnessed guys you would think are good guys, do bad things off the field.  It happens time and time again from Tiger Woods to Mark McGwire, just to name the most recent athletes to fall from grace.  We won't know the truth probably but the proof is out there.  Athletes are just like the public at large.  Some do good things and some do bad.
