If you are looking for something for that special sprint car fan in your life (or are putting together your own wish list) it can be extremely frustrating shopping on Amazon.com – with the exception of a few books and tchotchkes, mainstream online stores have very few things that appeal to the sprint car fan. So Examiner.com has put together a list of some sprint car and midget racing gift ideas that are sure to rev up any fan this Christmas.

The Jimmy Sills School of Open Wheel Racing

It’s tough to find a better person to teach you how to drive a sprint car than National Sprint Car Hall of Famer Jimmy Sills. He was the first driver to win three USAC Silver Crown series championships (a feat matched by Bud Kaeding this year) along wins with the World of Outlaws, USAC Nationals Sprints and Midgets, All Star Circuit of Champions, CRA and SCRA.

One of the original and oldest sprint car racing schools in the country, The Jimmy Sills School of Open Wheel Racing is located at Twin City Speedway in Marysville, California and offers one-day to two-day winged and non-winged sprint car driving programs for novice to experienced drivers. Among the list of students advertised on the school’s Web site include Kasey Kahne, Brad Furr, P.J. Chesson, Damion Gardner and Tony Hunt.

Cory Kruseman’s Sprint Car and Midget Driving School

Based out of the 1/5th mile dirt track at Ventura Raceway in Southern California since 2000, Cory Kruseman’s Sprint Car and Midget Driving School offers you the chance to learn from one of the most experienced and respected drivers in the country. Kruseman has won major races in both sprint car and midget racing, including the Chili Bowl, Oval Nationals and series titles in Indiana Sprint Week, USAC/CRA and SCRA competition.

Along with offering courses in sprint car and midget racing, the school has recently begun offering classes in karting for students 12 and over. For $200, students can get two 15-lap sessions on the Ventura Raceway track with coaching from Kruseman.

Location: Ventura, California
Cost: $200-$3,600

Smiley Sitton’s Outlaw Driving School

As one of the few sprint car driving schools in the Southwest, Smiley Sitton’s Outlaw Driving School is located just minutes from the Dallas Fort Worth Airport, making it an easy location for people coming from around the country. It is endorsed by drivers such as Danny Lasoski and Ken Scharder, who says on the school’s Web site that Sitton “has the expertise to provide you the experience of a lifetime and the willingness to share his unparalleled knowledge and skill with the aspiring sprint car driver.”

He has good reason for saying that: Sitton runs one of the most successful sprint car racing parts businesses in the country. His school combines driving experience with class work to give prospective drivers a complete approach to racing.
