Trump's world class golf venue near Washington should be target #1 for the LPGA Championship (Trump)

This week at Bulle Rock Country Club in Have de Grace, Maryland they are hosting the final McDonald’s LPGA Championship ever.
One of the LPGA’s premier events is without a sponsor and a home for 2010.
Michelle Wee, Paula Creamer, Lorena Ochoa, Helen Alfredsson and Yani Tseng are a few of the top name stars who are waiting to be marketed on a worldwide stage. Then there is a new long term deal with the Golf Channel that kicks in come 2010. But make no mistake about it the LPGA needs help.
I can see the perfect match in the ultimate businessman Donald Trump, with his stunning new golf center and the LPGA Championship.
There are few people on the planet who are better promoters than Trump. He is a natural born salesman and a gifted match maker.
Landing the LPGA Championship for his new posh Trump National Golf Club located on the Potomac, river in Sterling, Virginia would be a great win –win.
Trump could make the LPGA Championship an annual event at his club and use his vast resources to do a Sports Apprentice to find a title sponsor. There could be shows produced by Trump showcasing some of the many LPGA stars and with such an international cast there would be an audience on nearly every continent.
Meanwhile, the LPGA could benefit from having a strong relationship with a world class brand like Trump and the stability of having the tour championship played each year in the Washington, D.C. area would give the tour a much needed boost.
I am aware that this week LPGA Commissioner Carolyn Bivens was confident that the future of the LPGA Championship would be fine and that now they could pick the venue that they want to hold the event at each year. But the cold hard fact if that the LPGA has a staggering 17 tournaments up for renewal this year and a tough economy makes Commissioner Bivens optimism ring a bit hollow.
I hope -- for the sake of the LPGA, Trump National Golf Club and women golf fans -- that "The Donald's" people get a call from Ms. Bivens' people or vice versa. It would be sweet to have the LPGA Championship in the Nation’s Capital every year with Trump's vast promotional talent behind it.
