What has become apparent to tennis fans throughout the country is that the working relationship between the team at ESPN2 and the Tennis Channel is a perfect match.
What started at the Australian Open got better at the French, even better at Wimbledon but reached perfection at the U.S. Open.
New York has served as the perfect backdrop as tennis fans have been treated wall to wall 24 hour a day coverage of everything a viewer could ever want.
Not just the key matches have been aired - but we have seen battles on the outer courts - places that before we only saw from the blimp on fly over beauty shots.
The play by play and analysis has been outstanding and since every top notch broadcaster who does tennis is at some point on the air what’s not to like.
Today we return to the first week schedule where both channels follow all the day action with ESPN2 having the night session.
Broadcast crews will be the same at ESPN2 ESPN’s tennis team is led by Cliff Drysdale, Chris Fowler, Mike Tirico and Hannah Storm have all done a fine job of hosting and play by play. A great job by Patrick McEnroe and his brother John have become a first rate team. I am also a huge fan of the work of analyst Mary Carillo who continues to show why she is the best in the business. Mary Joe Fernandez and Brad Gilbert also do a fine job in the color role. Kudos to the job done by Pam Shriver who has done a fine job as the roving reporter - she really does shine in that role.
The Tennis Channel also has a strong roster that includes play by play role of Ted Robinson, Ian Eagle, and the hard working Bill Macatee. The talented duo of Jimmy Connors and Martina Navrátilová has been very entertaining as well as informative.
It can be fun to watch a match called on ESPN2 then overnight seeing the same match called on Tennis Channel it is great to see how both broadcast teams see the same match.
Ever wonder how to get a cab? Well some tennis stars have good plans. Thanks to the Tennis Channel.
