There was no slight of hand with a bloody glove.
It was not Los Angeles and the cops did not bungle the case.
The jury of his peers was not swooning over the guy who used to jump over cars in commercials like Superman did over buildings.
For O.J. Simpson it was about his own words and deeds, caught on tape, which landed him in jail for what could turn out to be the rest of his life.
The prosecution’s case was so air-tight they likely could have secured a conviction with the audio and video only, however they followed the lead of Jack Webb from the old TV series Dragnet: “Just the facts Ma’am.”
Simpson fought the law and he won, not once but twice; a murder rap and road rage incident. With every waking moment being monitored by everyone from Joe the Plumber to the paparazzi you would think laying low would be a priority. Sadly that is not in the Hall of Famer’s DNA.
Las Vegas Judge Jackie Glass handed down whopping 33-years in the clink for the now 61-year old former football star and that might have had something to do with the early morning 5.1 magnitude earthquake in southern California that also shook its way into Nevada.
Could that have been God’s way of saying “Gotcha?” The timing could not have been more perfect.
Judge Glass’ reading of each count and the accompanying time in jail was anticlimactic after millions watched Simpson address the court, crocodile tears notwithstanding. All you had to do was witness his entrance into the room, joking and smiling and you knew the Kleenex moment was as phony as a three-dollar bill.
"I just wanted my personal things. I was stupid. I'm sorry," he said. "I didn't know I was doing anything illegal. I thought I was confronting friends. I thought I was retrieving my things. I didn't mean to hurt anybody, and I didn't mean to steal anything."
Stupid? Yes. Didn’t know anything was illegal? Yeah, and everyone buys a cup of coffee with a gun. Confronting “friends?” With friends like O.J., who needs enemies?
For those who thought he literally got away with murder 13-years ago this, may have been a case of justice delayed is now justice affirmed. It will be nine years before Simpson can even consider freedom and you can bet there will be a line around the corner for each and every subsequent parole hearing requesting he be kept behind bars.
There is a saying in Las Vegas: “What happens here, stays here.” O.J. Simpson has now become the poster child for that advertisement as he will be staying for a long, long time.

Marilyn, how can you mention Sam Sheppard and OJ Simpson in the same breath? Whether you believe he was guilty or innocent in this wife's murder, it has nothing to do with this specific case.
Simpson clearly was the brains (?) behind this Vegas stunt, he got caught and he will pay the piper.
You can argue all you like that he was set up by LAPD but you cannot argue the audio and video tapes here.
If the judge was inclined to get back at OJ for past problems, she could have sent him up the river for life and not given him a chance to get paroled in 9 years.
It is very clear that the Judge was on an Ego Trip. She wanted to be the one to put OJ away for good. The Proof Look at the sentences of the guys whom took a plea deal. They all got probation ,even the one holding the gun
Ego trip? Like Jackie Glass asked for this trial? She is known for being tough and OJ with Clarabell Stewart got relatively good deals considering what they could have received.
In addition, it was the STATE that wanted Simpson and they were willing to take pleas from the rest of his cohorts in order to get a conviction. It happens every day but you just don't know it.
There really is a god who has set up some wonderful natural laws of the Universe. The one I like is what goes around, comes around. Soooo sorry O.J. but I think you can get the golf channels in prison. Have a very Merry Christmas.

I don't think any of the BIG boys will get a hold of him. OJ gets to spend his time in solitary confinement as part of his protection. He's too old anyway who want to reem some old gray haired dude. But where there's a will there's a way!
Hey Karl you are a fool! First of all OJ was the ring leader so he was going to get more than the others. Even the patsie he had "holding the gun". Second of all, if he would have taken a plea deal, which he did not because he was arrogant and stupid, he would have received far less time as well.
