Another tough test awaits the Seton Hall Pirates this Saturday when they will host the West Virginia Mountaineers at the Prudential Center in Newark. For both teams, this will be their first Big East conference game of the season. The Mountaineers will enter this game as one of the few unbeaten teams of the season.
No. 6 West Virginia (9-0) is expected to be a tough test for the Pirates to handle. Saturday's game will determine whether or not Seton Hall can not only defeat one of the elite teams from the Big East, but if they can defeat one of the top ten teams in the country. Seton Hall is 64-204 lifetime against Top 25 opponents.
Seton Hall (9-1) in last season's Big East game against West Virginia suffered a 92-66 blowout at home. The 26-point loss was the Pirates' worst loss of the season.
West Virginia forward Da' Sean Butler leads the Mountaineers with 16.0 points per game. Butler, a Newark native, will once again be playing in his hometown against the Pirates.
West Virginia in their last game on Wednesday defeated No. 15 Mississippi 76-66. Forward Wellington Smith led Mountaineer scorers with 19 points. 17 of Smith's points came in the second half.
Saturday's Big East game will air live on CBS this Saturday afternoon at 3:30. Seton Hall will be playing their first game on CBS since the 2006 NCAA Tournament when they loss to Wichita State 86-66 in the first round.
