With bowl projections up in the air, the Rutgers Scarlet Knights are focused on bouncing back from Saturday's 31-13 loss to Syracuse. Rutgers will be in Louisville to play the Cardinals this Friday morning at 11. The game is scheduled to air on ESPN2.
Rutgers (7-3, 2-3) in their home finale of last season gave Louisville their worse loss of season, defeating them 63-14. Wide receiver Tim Brown caught four passes for a season-high 173 yards with two touchdowns while former quarterback and standout Mike Teel threw for 447 yards with seven touchdown passes, tying a Big East record.
Rutgers, however, has had disappointing losses in their last two trips to Louisville. In 2005, the Scarlet Knights suffered their worse loss of the season with a 56-5 defeat. In 2007, they blew a 21-3 first half lead and lost to Louisville 41-38.
Friday's game will be Senior Day for Louisville (4-7, 1-5). Louisville players Scott Long, Trent Guy, Ryan Payne, and several other seniors will be honored in the school's home finale at Papa John's Cardinal Stadium.
Rutgers wide receiver Tim Brown and kicker San San Te are both listed questionable for Friday's game. Both players suffered ankle injuries from Saturday's game at Syracuse. Rutgers true freshman kicker Kyle Sullivan could possibly be making his collegiate day view this Friday, according to head coach Greg Schiano.
Although the Gator Bowl is no longer considering Rutgers, the Meineke Car Care Bowl is the highest possible bowl bid where a solid Big East team would be playing against a solid ACC team. However, Rutgers must finish strong in their final two games against Louisville and West Virginia.
Other possible bowl bids are the Papajohns.com Bowl, St. Petersburg Bowl, and International Bowl. However, the Scarlet Knight players are currently paying less attention to all possible bowl bids by preparing for Friday's final road game against their Big East foe.
