MLB makes it official: there is no tying in baseball

In an effort to avoid nasty news like that out of Philadelphia where Donovan McNabb has been roasted on a spit (watch McNabb's statement about NFL overtime below),  Major League Baseball and its fearless leader Bud Selig have swooped in just in time.

No one will ever misunderstand baseball's rules about tied games during the playoffs and World Series. And I'm sure we all feel much better about it all. Right?

Yesterday after an owners meeting in New York,  MLB Commissioner Bud Selig made it clear that complete games will be necessary for play-in games and all playoff and World Series contests. In July, the Commissioner announced that the All-Star Game would be played out, even if a position player was forced to pitch after all pitchers had been used. And now he has done the same for post-season games. Selig was quoted as saying:

"Any game that has significance for the post season. It will be very clear now. Everybody will know exactly."

Selig had former Fed Chairman Paul Volcker address the owners at the meeting and I wonder if any insider information was exchanged? Oh yeah, wrong sport for that discussion. Well, not really if you consider that owner of the Chicago Cubs Sam Zell was in attendance and one of the bidders for his club is currently fighting civil charges by the SEC. Gee, I wonder who that is?
