Plaxico Burress has a great work ethic

Some people have the delusion that NFL players have it easy. They make millions of dollars to play one game a week, travel all over the country, wear sweats and ball caps to work, have Tuesdays off, and drive really nice cars.

But all you haters have it wrong. It's reeeally hard to be an NFL player. Getting up at 6 a.m. to drive all the way out to the practice facility where you are provided breakfast, sit in a dark room watching yourself on film in your team-provided shorts and t-shirt is a toil I’d wish upon no one.

Well, it's about time that someone finally stood up to The Man. And the New York Giants’ Plaxico Burress did just that.

You see, a few weeks ago, Plax was given a gold star for a job well done. That gold star was actually millions of dollars but eh, that’s just semantics.

But Plax soon tired of getting up early in his big house and decided to just call in sick. Rather than offer up the standard, “my throat hurts” or “I was up all night with a fever” he decided to just skip work all together.

His boss called and called but Plax didn’t answer. And when Tom Coughlin finally got a hold of Plax, his excuse for not showing up at work was something more like, “I got bit by a spider on the foot and couldn’t walk to my car to drive to work.”

Like any supervisor, Mr. Coughlin didn’t buy Plax’s story. He suspended him for two weeks; refusing to pay him while he’s out.

But the good news is that Plax can get that well-deserved rest over the next two weeks.

And he doesn’t even need to organize those agenda items for the meeting next week with Seattle. That’s what his secretary is for, right?
