The Calgary Roughnecks had a rough night in Minnesota Friday.
The Riggers lost 12-10 and saw their early National Lacrosse League record fall to 1-1.
Zack Greer led the Swarm's charge with one goal and four assists. Goaltender Nick Patterson made 41 saves.
NLL player of the week Josh Sanderson continues to pass the puck and collect assists at a rapid pace. Sanderson, who set an NLL record for assists in a season last year, had six more assists Friday night in the loss.
The third quarter was the Roughnecks' poorest segment of the evening. With the score 6-5 Minnesota at the half, the Swarm outscored Calgary 3-0 after the halftime break.
Another major reason for Minnesota's win was because of the undisciplined play of defenceman and assistant captain Andrew McBride, who took four minor penalties in the contest.
The Roughnecks will host the Washington Stealth, who moved to Everett from San Jose in the offseason, in a Western division matchup next Saturday (January 23) at the Pengrowth Saddledome. Game time is 7:30pm.
