There are currently tough times for the Calgary Roughnecks.

While the Flames hammered the Oilers 6-1 at the Pengrowth Saddledome last night, another battle of Alberta went Edmonton's way.

Ryan Ward scored one goal and five assists as the Edmonton Rush defeated the Calgary Roughnecks 14-11 in National Lacrosse League action in the provincial capital Saturday night.

Rush forwards Dean Hill and Andy Secore notched four points each for Edmonton who improved to 3-1 on the season, a game and a half back of the West Division leading Washington Stealth.

With the loss, the Roughnecks, the defending Champion's Cup Champions, fall to 1-3.

On a losing note, Roughnecks veteran Kaleb Toth played in his first game of the season and scored two goals and two assists.

The Roughnecks will host the Edmonton Rush February 5 in the second game of their back-to-back series. Game time at the Pengrowth Saddledome is 7:30pm.
