The Calgary Roughnecks are now below .500 early in the 2010 National Lacrosse League season, and they have a former player to thank for their weekend loss.
Lewis Ratcliff had one of the best games in his NLL career with 6 goals and 3 assists, as the Washington Stealth defeated the Calgary Roughnecks 16-15 on Saturday night at the Pengrowth Saddledome.
Ratcliff was a Roughneck from 2003-08. The 28 year-old from Victoria, had his finest season in 2007, when he scored 50 goals and 54 assists. Ratcliff played the last two seasons with the Toronto Rock.
The Roughnecks lost despite great offensive performances from Craig Conn and Josh Sanderson who notched four goals and three assists each.
The Stealth, who moved from San Jose to Everett in the offseason, are now a perfect 4-0 in the NLL's West Division.
The Stealth won despite a great second quarter by the Roughnecks where they outscored Washington 8-4.
Next up for the Roughnecks are back-to-back games against the Edmonton Rush-- Saturday, January, 30 in Edmonton at 5pm and then Friday, February 5 in Calgary at 7:30.
