The University of Calgary Dinos are off to the Vanier Cup Final next Saturday in Quebec City.
The Dinos defeated the University of St. Mary's, the Atlantic University Champion, 38-14 in the Uteck Bowl.
They will face Queen's University, who upset the University of Laval 33-30 in the Mitchell Bowl.
Many will not be too surprised that the Dinos came away with a victory, but many will be surprised how they won.
The Dinos won because of an excellent ground game, led by the one-two punch of Matt Walter and Steven Lumbala. Walter ran for 235 yards on 20 carries and two touchdowns, while Lumbala ran for 156 yards and an end zone rush.
The Dinos passing game was surprisingly non-existent. Dinos quarterback Erik Glavic, a Hec Creighton Trophy nominee, only completed seven passes on eighteen attempts for 77 yards all afternoon.
On defense, Chase Moore led the way with eleven tackles and Wyatt Getty recorded two interceptions.
The win was sweet for Dinos head coach Blake Nill who led St. Mary's to Vanier Cup titles in 2001 and 2002.
The Dinos' opponent for the championship title is a big surprise however.
Many expected it would be the no.1 ranked Laval Rouge et Or. But the Quebec champions were upset by Queen's, and failed in an attempt to win the Vanier Cup on home soil next weekend.
