The next coach of the Buffalo Bills? How about Jim Haslett?

Will the former Buffalo Bills linebacker be the team's next head coach?

John Gruden? Staying in the booth.
Marty Schottenheimer? Staying in the retirement home.
Bill Cowher? The timing isn’t right.
Mike Shanahan? Offered $10 million a year and a piece of the team and he has to think about it? He’s not coming.

I’ve been saying if for months and months (look it up), why would any of the big name coaches want to come to Buffalo? Look at the facts: A 91-year-old owner with no plan in place should he pass away, the definite possibility of relocation in the near future, and the only NFL team that plays seven home games and nine away. The talent is another matter entirely.

So it looks like Buffalo is already out of the running for a super high-profile coach/GM. It’s time to look at the candidates in tier number two. Who is your choice to roam the sidelines at Ralph Wilson Stadium next year?

Charlie Weis: Great offensive coordinator in New England, not so great head coach at Notre Dame.
Perry Fewell: Players seemed to play hard for him, but the losses will mount.
Denny Green: Laboring in the UFL.
Ted Cottrell: See Denny Green, but with ties to the Bills organization.
Jim Fassel: Has seen success in the NFL.
Jim Haslett: Former NFL head coach, former Buffalo Bill, undefeated in UFL.
Mike Holmgren: Says he’d prefer a front office job.
Marc Trestman: Did a great job in the CFL.
Mike Matrz: First to officially lobby for the Bills job.

When all is said and done, my money is on Haslett. Maybe he’ll bring his UFL quarterback — Brooks Bollinger (14 TDs, 3 INTs with the Florida Tuskers) — with him. Draft a college quarterback and go with Bollinger for a few games until the new kid is ready? I suppose it’s possible.

If you were Ralph Wilson Jr., who would you be making the check out to?

Only team to play seven home and nine away, huh? Curious, but not entirely correct. Every game has a home and away team. No games have two away teams. And even if they did, the Bills are not the only team to play away from their own home stadium, they are just the only ones to do it voluntarily. The NFL forces two teams to open the season in London, or at least has for the last three years.

Next head coach = Perry Fewell.

Re: Perry Fewell - losses will mount, but losses mounted for the first couple years of Marv Levy too. Fewell will be fine as a coach.

What the Bills' organization needs is a general manager of football operations. Russ Brandon is a money-man. Not that there is anything wrong with turning a profit, but making money as a football team is easier when you are good, and Russ Brandon has no idea how to get there. He doesn't know a good football player from Jason Peters.

If I were Ralph Wilson Jr. and wanted to really win the big one.
1st.I would sell the team to the Erie county.2nd I'd assured that the Bills are here to stay I'd Fire Russ Brandon hire Mike Holmgren
to take his job.3rd After you've done these move I promise you Bill Cowher would love to come to Buffalo. Finally Ralph Wilson Jr. would become a hero in Buffalo not a cheep S.O.B,Could the league handle another Greenbay.I wonder????

Bill Cowher would be a great fit for Buffalo! I also think Edwards is more accurate than Fitzpatrick but Fitz isn't afraid to throw the ball around. That can make for big plays or big interceptions. If our line could protect someone I think Edwards would be fine.
