The Buffalo Sabres announced that Friday’s Power Play Luncheon featuring former Sabres captain Pat Lafontaine will be streamed live on Sabres.com. Fans are encouraged to log on at 12:40 p.m. to watch the keynote speech.

The goal of the Power Play Luncheon series is to provide a unique opportunity for corporations and individuals to have an up close and personal look at the Sabres organization and the NHL. The final luncheon of the three-part series will take place on Friday, March 5. The guest speaker will be announced at a later date. For more information, log on to Sabres.com or call 855-4588. A portion of the proceeds will benefit the Buffalo Sabres Foundation.

In other Sabres news, the team announced that Grant Ledyard has been named director of Youth Hockey Development. In this capacity, Ledyard will continue to serve in the dual role of head coach/GM of the Buffalo Jr. Sabres, a position he has held for the past two seasons. In his first season behind the bench in 2008-09, Ledyard led the Jr. Sabres to their first winning season in eight years.

Ledyard’s primary focus as director of Youth Hockey Development will be maintaining the Sabres’ ongoing commitment to youth hockey in Western New York through the hosting of several clinics at HSBC Arena throughout the hockey season. Beginning in late December, the Sabres will be holding a variety of hockey fundamentals and skill development clinics. Ledyard will also be involved in the planning and execution of the Bowman Cup, along with the high school hockey championships that will take place at HSBC Arena on Sunday, Feb. 28.

Ledyard is a veteran of 1,028 NHL games, including four seasons with the Sabres from 1989-1993. He can be reached via e-mail at grant.ledyard@sabres.com.
