Zona drops out? Terps in lead for Stephenson?
It appears that the Arizona Wildcats have completed their 2009 recruiting class and are no longer pursuing Lance Stephenson, leaving the Maryland Terrapins virtually by themselves competing for his services.
In what has become one of the strangest basketball recruiting sagas that I can remember, Stephenson went from being a McDonald's All-American to a player having trouble finding anyone who wants him.
The Terps have pursued him hard, yet he has rebuffed most of their overtures. It's just been a really strange situation.
Either way, it's expected that Stephenson will make his decision sometime in the middle of June, and Vasquez' decision to return to school next year will likely have a major impact on the announcement.

Steve,
Appreciate your articles. I there's been some issues here and there, but they seem to be solid and recap the issues/stories for people like myself that aren't engaged with the Terps 100% of the time. Keep it up!
When did Vazquez announce he was going back to MD?
What about Memphis?
Memphis went off the radar a week or two ago, guess Lance finally figured out that without calipari, memphis isnt going to much of anything.
Vazquez didn't announce he is coming back, but it appears he will. Very unlikely he'd be a 1st rounder. Here is what Coach Williams said: ht tp://basketball.realgm.com/src_wiretap_archives/59527/20090602/williams_believes_vasquez_will_return_to_maryland/
Does Lance want to play PG or SG. I have read both, but he seems like a SG. I guess he would like his hands on the ball. I think he is good enough to take the Terps far next year, and then be a lottery pick as long as he isn't in trouble. Choose the Terps and then Duke + UNC FEAR THE TURTLE (even more)!
Would Vasquez coming back to Maryland help or hurt our chances for Lance?
It is my opinion that Vasquez is definitely coming back, and Gary happens to feel the same way.
I think Vasquez returning will help Stephenson come to Maryland since the team needs a shooting guard anyway and Vasquez can remain at the point, which is where he prefers to play.
