Ravens hire Zorn as QB's coach

The Baltimore Ravens have hired former Washington Redskins head coach Jim Zorn as their new quarterbacks coach.

Zorn takes over for Hue Jackson, who left to become the offensive coordinator of the Oakland Raiders.

It's a good move for Zorn, who many said desperately wanted the job. It allows Zorn to stay in the area after getting the Redskins job just a couple of years ago.

Before coming to Washington, Zorn was the quarterbacks coach for the Seattle Seahawks, so he has plenty of experience in the role.

Zorn was successful in turning Matt Hasselback into one of the NFC's better quarterbacks, but he wasn't nearly as successful with Jason Campbell in Washington.

Whether or not Ravens fans want someone who failed so miserable as a head coach tutoring their young, talented quarterback is another question.

It is important to note that many positions coaches fail as a head coach but are very good at what they do. I'm not saying that will be the case with Zorn, but the hire could end up working out well for the Ravens.

If nothing else, you have to respect Zorn for the way he handled the situation in Washington. He was given an awful group of players because their owner and general manager are clueless on how to build a football team, yet took his firing with a lot of grace and dignity.
