Lewis not planning on hometown discount

Ray Lewis is looking to get paid, telling the NFL Network thathe will not be taking any sort of hometown discount to stay with the Baltimore Ravens.

He made it clear that he wants to go wherever he can make the most money and mentioned the Dallas Cowboys and New York Jets as two teams he wouldn't mind joining.

The linebacker stated that he always plays as hard as he can and doesn't plan on doing any less, so why should he have to be paid less.

The comments from Lewis certainly put a damper on the thoughts of owner Steve Bisciotti, who felt the linebacker would be willing to take less to finish his career where he started it.

Lewis is hoping to cash in on one final, lucrative deal before retiring. Some NFL analysts, most notably close friend Shannon Sharpe, have implored Lewis to take less money if need be to end his career as a Raven. It remains to be seen whether that will happen.

He previously made comments stating that what team he plays for is no one's business but God's. That seemed to make it clear he will be out for the money, but then he talked about a brotherhood with Suggs and the other linebackers and how much he loves Baltimore. He also said he didn't care about the franchise tag and it was all about what is best for the team. I'm not even sure Lewis knows what he wants to do yet.

Terrell Suggs believes all three of the team's free agent linebackers can return if they are willing to take a hometown discount.

It's interesting that Suggs would come out and say that now, as he has put himself on the spot to accept a lower offer for the good of the team. Fans will certainly keep a close eye on negotiations to see if he will stay true to his word.

This might just be another in a long line of dumb things Suggs has said to the media, or maybe he just loves being in Baltimore and playing alongside fellow linebackers Bart Scott and Lewis.

You have to give Suggs a lot of credit for playing through a serious shoulder injury that he could have made a lot worse in the AFC championship game. That showed a lot of heart and the willingness to lose a lot of money for the sake of playing for his teammates and the fans.

Meanwhile, I seriously doubt that Scott is taking a hometown discount. He took less money last time around to stay in Baltimore and his agent has already made it known that he is looking to get paid.

Nonetheless, the recent comments from Suggs will certainly add another element of intrigue to how this situation with the three star linebackers will unfold in the coming months.

Terrell Suggs? Who's that? Ohhhhh, you must mean T-Sizzle.

Says Lewis: "I see Dallas as a great opportunity. It's always been America's Team. It's just a great place to play football." You feeling a bit less secure that he's not going to Dallas?

Dallas doesn't need Ray Lewis. Dallas doesn't have the cap room to give Ray the money he wants. Damarcus Ware is what Jones is worried about. Either that or Ray is using the media to get hurt Ware's negotiations. New York will have to give up Farve for Ray. Ray's price tag may not fit market needs. Like my house his worth may deminish in the current economy. I say let him test the market and we can counter an offer. No harm we may end up paying less this way.

Chris: I think there is a good chance he might end up in Dallas. I just don't think its the best move for his career, but they will very likely offer more money.

Allen: I don't think Dallas needs him either, but it appears they believe he will fix their locker room issues. That remains to be seen.

I'd love to see him in a Patriots uniform, but they aren't gonna make the highest offer. It's not their style.

I'd hate to see him in a Jets uniform...

(Pittsburgh Sports Examiner) It be great to get him out of the AFC North. Heard a rumor the Browns are going to go after him, although they have no PR people to confirm anything since they all got canned!

Matt: I hope he doesn't leave Baltimore. Our defense would really take a hit.

Too bad you know nothing about acting like an adult, huh?
