Falcons trade for Gonzalez could help Ravens land Pettigrew

It's always hard to get a read on who the Ravens really like in the NFL Draft, and this year is no different, but tight end Brandon Pettigrew is high on their list.

In fact, some sources close to the team have even intimated that if Pettigrew was somehow still on the board when it was time for the Ravens to select, they would turn down a deal for Anquan Boldin with the Arizona Cardinals in favor of selecting the tight end.

The chance that Pettigrew could still be around grew significantly when the Kansas City Chiefs traded Pro Bowl tight end Tony Gonzalez to the Atlanta Falcons. The Falcons are one of the few teams sitting in front of the Ravens who were in need of a tight end and eyeing Pettigrew, but that is obviously no longer the case.

The Philadelphia Eagles are one of the only other teams looking at Pettigrew after losing tight end L.J. Smith to the Ravens in the offseason, but they are rumored be very interested in running back Knowshon Moreno, who would give them some insurance in case the fragile Brian Westbrook misses more time next year.

The Ravens might be most concerned with a team trading up into one of the spots ahead of them to select Pettigrew if they seem him still on the board after pick No. 20 or so. It will certainly be interesting to see what the Ravens do with their first round pick with so many different options on the table.
