Bedard still a "pain in the butt"
Baltimore Orioles Examiner Jay Trucker came up with a much more clever headline about Erik Bedard, but I thought he missed on the irony of the situation.
As Trucker reported, Bedard missed his latest spring training start because of a sore posterior. The Mariners do not believe that the injury is serious.
Orioles fans and especially the media around town are getting a kick out of this, as he was literally a pain in the butt when he was in Baltimore. Whether it be signing autographs, answering questions from the media or just opening up a bit, Bedard was not pleasant to deal with by nearly all accounts.
He hardly ever laughed or smiled, and was often off by himself isolated from his teammates. Interestingly enough, the pitcher returned to Camden Yards and seemed to realize that the grass isn't always greener on the other side.
He has had a tough time so far in Seattle, where he was expected to help push the Mariners over the top. I wouldn't be surprised if Bedard tried to make a play to return to Baltimore in the future, not that he would necessarily be welcomed back.

One of my favorite trades of all time. Still can't believe how much we got in return. Seattle got jacked on this trade haha.
Another crap piece on Bedard. He did sign autographs and was pleasant about it. He wasn't isolated from his teammates, you could see him sitting or taking to them in the dugout. You are presenting not smiling and laughing as proof? (Not true, BTW) By that then Nick Markakis is a pain, that s.o.b.
If he was a pain to the media you well deserved it. (I use you loosely in the examiners case, writers wannabes you are) Your "journalism" is worthless like the treatment of this "story" shows.
What's the point of this article besides ripping on bedard for not being everybody's best friend?
The only thing that really matters is how he performs on the field and heck you could have chosen to rip on him for how he did in 2008 but instead you talk about how he didn't smile or laugh enough...seriously? Is the Baltimore media really that butthurt over Bedard not being their media darling? We all know Baltimore got the better end of the trade and its been a year since it happened so grow up and move on.
Justin: No doubt about it. You have to wonder if their GM at the time was actually on the O's payroll.
Erik Bedard rules: Nick Markakis and Erik Bedard are nothing like each other. There is a different between being shy and being a jerk.
Ryan: It was just funny to me that the injury was what it was considering how most people around Baltimore and probably Seattle by now feel about the guy's personality.
When healthy, he is a very good pitcher, although he loves to throw his six innings and call it a night.
