A Friday night sellout?
The fascination and hoopla surrounding Matt Wieters is astounding, and with his debut coming Friday night at home, one has to wonder if the Orioles could possibly have a sellout at The Yard.
The weather is questionable, but it's a Friday night, it's student night and the first fireworks night of the season. Add Wieters to the mix and, outside of the opponent (Detroit) and a chance of storms, you have a pretty good formula for a large crowd.
Message boards are going crazy over the Wieters announcement, with many saying they have already purchased tickets in advance for the Friday night game. In fact, more than 32,000 seats were already sold as of last night and some rumors today have that total now closer to 40,000.
When's the last time so many fans were this excited over a player, or buying tickets days before a game to assure themselves a prime seat?
It could be a big weekend for the O's and their attendance figures, which could really use a big jump. They might just get it, too. I just hope the weather cooperates tonight to get everyone out to Pickles and other bars around the stadium to create a playoff-like atmosphere.

The last time I bought tickets online before the game was for that series against Colorado in 2005 when we were in first place.
I can't wait for 7:05!
Chris: I share your excitement, though the storms are putting a damper on things at the moment.
