The Philadelphia Sixers (5-10) wrapped up a three-game, pre-Thanksgiving road trip Wednesday night as they fell to the Boston Celtics 113-110. The Sixers kept the game close leading by six (85-79) going into the fourth quarter but struggled in the final stanza allowing the Celtics to go on a 15-4 run.
Andre Iguodala led the Sixers with 25 points, nine rebounds and nine assists. Iguodala also went 7-8 from the free-throw line for Philly who shot an impressive 78 percent (19-26) from the charity stripe. Celtics forward Paul Pierce had a game-high 27 points going 10-15 from the field. Pierce played all but five minutes of the game.
Starting in place of the injured Lou Williams was rookie guard Jrue Holiday. Holiday finished with his second 10 point effort in as many days going 4-of-13 from the field. Holiday also finished with six assists.
Off the bench, the Sixers had strong outings from Jason Kapono and Willie Green. Kapono finished with 20 points going 4-6 from the three-point line and Green ended with 18 points and four assists.
The Sixers have lost seven of their last eight games but have kept the games close losing by an average of 5.5 points.
The Sixers have a day off on Thursday and will return home to face the 11-3 Atlanta Hawks who are 8-2 in their last 10 games and are averaging 105 points a game.
