Phillies pitcher Jamie Moyer was hospitalized Wednesday morning after suffering complications from his September groin surgery. Moyer was admitted to Thomas Jefferson University Hospital.
This is the second time he has been admitted to the hospital due to complications since his initial surgery to repair a strained groin muscle. Surgery kept him out of the Phillies post-season run. Moyer was re-admitted to the hospital a week after the initial surgery due to a blood infection.
Team doctors issued a public statement saying "Jamie's a healthy guy. He is in no way seriously ill. And we're taking appropriate precautions so that we can make sure there's nothing else."
Moyer is 47 and is the oldest active player in the Major League baseball. He had been in the majors for 23 years and went 12-10 and had an ERA of 4.94 last season.
