Third generation Mustangs are based on the larger Fox platform, giving it more strength than later generations. One of the last true muscle car chassis readily available today, a builder can purchase this chassis in need of repair for around one thousand dollars. After all repairs have been made to the chassis to get it track worthy, one can expect to spend around $15,000 to $20,000 in order to gain into the 1000 horsepower range for a reliable daily driver. For this kind of power, the price of a new compact vehicle isn't bad! The build will consist of gutting the entire vehicle including new transmission, drive line, engine, and interior. Internal engine modifications include forged pistons and rods, sleeved cylinders, hardened valves, larger cam, and high performance crank shaft to handle the crazy amounts of power. Adding extra frame components to help brace for this enormous amount of power is a must! If you do not build the proper bracing, your engine will literally twist apart the chassis!
