Tampa Bay Rays mid season review Sometimes I really feel bad for the Tampa Bay Rays. They share a division with the New York Yankees, and the Boston Red Sox. Even with that they Rays sit in second place just 2 games behind the division leading Yankees. Over all they have a 42-29. Not too shabby at all. Over their last ten games they are 3-7. Of course they have drawn some of the tougher National League teams in interleague play including the Atlanta Braves, and San Diego Padres. |

2010 MLB season preview: Tampa Bay Rays What do we blame the 2009 Tampa Bay Rays season on? Was it the injuries, or was it the underperforming stars? Desperate to prove that their 2008 World Series trip was no fluke the Rays enter 2010 with a mission. This version of the Rays look a lot more like the 2008 squad than the 2008 but there are still a few questions to be answered before this team can ready itself to contend for the American League Wild Card. |

Small Budget Rays see 2010 as a all or nothing season Tampa Bay Rays President has been spending a little more freely in this off season, and he has told anyone who will listen that the 2010 payroll of the Rays may be in excess of 70 million dollars. Now the Rays are what most baseball fans call a small market team. Usually small markets team pay out little in payroll, and use the revenue sharing form the bigger clubs to make profit. It is a fairly effective system that robs the fans of quality baseball, but makes team owners a little bit of money. After reaching the World Series in 2008, the Rays have learned the other way to make profit, keeping their fans engaged by actively trying to win. |

2009 MLB season in review: Tampa Bay Rays After reaching the 2008 World Series, the 2009 Rays were looking to back up their on the field success. By finishing third in the American League East, the 2009 Rays season can be summed up in one word, disappointment. First baseman Carlos Pena hit 39 home runs and shared the lead in the American league, Short Stop Jason Bartlett hit an amazing .320, and the team completed just their second winning season in franchise history. Had this year happened before the 2008 World Series year, then it would have been remembered as a success, but this is a team hungry for the playoffs and individual statistics cannot replace that. |

Tampa Bay Rays buy stake in Florida UFL franchise The Tampa Bay Rays baseball team has become the latest benefactors of the United Football League. While the new league spent the past week unveiling team names and uniform color schemes, the announcement of the pending Rays ownership of the Florida Tuskers was the only real surprise. |

On Friday the Los Angeles Angels traded for Starting Pitcher Scott Kazmir. Kazmir who helped take the Tamp Bay Rays to the World Series a year ago has so far been an unimpressive 8-7 with a 5.92 era. While he may indeed help the Angels with their run at the playoffs this is really a story about two teams in vastly different circumstances. |
