  Tampa Bay Lightning Stories

Tampa Bay Lightning sold, again

The Tampa Bay Lightning have been sold yet again, this time to Jeff Vinik a minority owner of theBoston Red Sox. Now this franchise can get focused n improving itself and building a team around its star players.

Do the Lightning need to trade Vincent Lecavalier?

Vincent Lecavalier is the Captain of the Tampa Bay Lightning, more than that he is the face of that franchise. Really he has been the face of the Bolts since he was a teenager. However given his high cap number, and the amount of money left on his deal, is it time for the Lightning to try and move him?

2009-10 NHL preview: Tampa Bay Lightning

Like most of the team we have looked at so far though our NHL preview the Tampa Bay Lightning are a complete mess. They have two feuding owners whop cannot agree on how to run the team. This situation has gotten so bad that the NHL had to insert General Manager Brian Lawton to make all the hockey decisions while the owners work through 60 day periods to buy each other out. In a way it is too bad this team cannot find some direction, because they have a couple of big pieces from which they could build around.

Feuding owners, Tampa Bay Lightning style

This is one of those stories that once again seems to prove it is better to have one owner than two. Len Barrie and Oren Koules bought the team in 2008 from Palace Sports an Entertainment, the corporation that owns the Detroit Pistons of the NBA. Almost from day one the two owners have disagreed about how the  club should be run.

Lightning’s owner may be in some hot water

It is never surprising when a couple of feuding owners find potentially damaging information about each other and slowly leak it to the press. This seems to be the case for the two feuding owners of the Tampa Bay Lightning.

Tampa’s two headed ownership monster

Let’s go ahead and file this one under “how to not run a NHL franchise.” Oren Koules and Len Barrie bought the club in 2008 for 204 million dollars. Since then the two have argued over the finances of the team, and the philosophy the organization should employ to rebuild it.
