2010 MLB preview: Pittsburgh Pirates The goal each and every year for the past 17 years has been to finish the season with a .500 record. This year the Pirates will once again try to break the curse of Barry Bonds, they have not had a winning season since Barry left town 17 years ago. It seems in 2010 that the lineup could be good enough to break even, but their are big questions in the starting rotation, and we all have to wonder when management will decide someone makes too much money and trades them to a contender. That is all the Pirates are anymore, a developmental team for the rest of baseball. Don’t like it, step up Pirates management and prove me wrong. |

2009 MLB season review: Pittsburgh Pirates The Pittsburgh Pirates have not had a winning season now in 17 years, in fact they are little more than a Triple A developmental team for whichever contender has enough prospects stocked up to trade for their star players. While they are one of the worst teams in the MLB, they are not as bad off as the Washington Nationals. If the ownership group of this club ever decided to spend a little money, they could be contenders, and their fans would flock to their beautiful newer baseball stadium. |

Pittsburgh Pirates have a date with infamy The Pittsburgh Pirates are one loss away from setting the ultimate mark of futility not only in major league baseball but for all sports. When the Pirates lose their next game, they will have completed their 17th consecutive losing season. The Pirates have not had a winning season since 1992. Following the success of that season the Pirates held a fire sale and jettisoned all of their star talent, and they have never recovered. In all reality the pirates are little more than a Triple A farm club for the rest of the league each and every summer. |
