New York Mets mid season review Finally the New York Mets are playing to their potential. They sit in second place 1.5 games behind the Atlanta Braves with a 44-34 record. They did struggle through out the month May going 12-17 in that month, but rebounded in June with an 18-8 record. They have beaten up on the teams on the American League teams compiling a 13-5 record in interleague play. The impressive number there is they went 2-1 versus the Minnesota Twins, and split the six games with their town rivals the New York Yankees. |

The New York Mets are in a bad situation. They are in a large market, but they have to share that with the free spending Yankees. They have a new ball park, but have yet to put a team on the field that will get their fan base excited. |

2010 MLB season preview: New York Mets The best thing about the 2009 MLB season for the New York Mets was probably that it ended. Nothing seemed to go right for the Mets last year, and their results were severely disappointing. Now they are back they have added Jason Bay and Jose Reyes appears to be healthy and ready to become the most exciting player in baseball once again. There seems to be a lot of cautious optimism surrounding this team for 2010, and hopefully it is not a season long grind where the Mets cannot catch a break. |

New York Mets land Jason Bay
The New York Mets had one very important off-season goal, to add a power hitter to their lineup. While they had a litany of other things t accomplish, this one feat was of the most important. The Mets just finished a 2009 campaign where they hit fewer home runs than any other big league team. On top of that their attendance was down by around a million fans, even though they opened a new ball park. Of course some of that was due to the cross town New York Yankees winning another World Championship. |

2009 MLB season in review: New York Mets The 2009 season was a terrible disappointment for the New York Mets. They opened a new ballpark, and yet due to injuries they struggled through a very long 162 games. While it is kind of hard to right off an entire MLB season due to bad luck maybe that is exactly what happened to the Mets this year. Their ownership was involved in a financial scam, the management was out of step, and there were many errors and of course the injuries. This is a far better team than their record showed, but as Bill Parcels says, “you are what your record says you are.” |

Allthough Owner Fred Wilpon is denying these reports, it seems reasonable that the Mets are actually for sale. Wilpon and his family has lost reportedly lost over 700 million dollars in the Bernie Madoff investment scheme. Since the Mets are worth nearly 912 million it seems reasonable to assume the Wilpon family would look to recoup the money lost in the Madoff affair. |

Gary Sheffield is at it again. There are a lot of rumors flying from the New York Mets clubhouse these days and a lot of them seem to indicate that Sheffield has quit the team. Sheffield apparently was placed on waivers by the Nets and when a claim was made for him, they withdrew him. Then Mets GM Omar Minaya held a meeting with Sheffield explaining the situation. It was a this meeting were Sheffield may have asked Minaya for a new contract, and when he was denied asked ot be released by the team. |

Can the Mets make a run at the NL Wild Card? Let’s face it the New York Mets have had a miserable 2009 MLB campaign. While they opened a new stadium this year, Citi Field, and had one of the best looking teams on paper heading into the year success has been slow to follow. With a rash of injuries, and some bizarre behavior displayed by their front office the Mets are looking to get a few of their injured players back, and determine if it is too late to make a run at the National League Wild Card spot. |

Johan Santana done for the year The Mets disabled list is starting to look like a All Star Game lineup card. Already struggling through so many injuries the Mets got more bad news Tuesday night when they had to sit down pitcher Johan Santana for the rest of the year due to bone chips is is throwing elbow. To say this season has been miserable for the Mets and their fans is quite and understatement. No other first year in a new stadium has gone as badly as the Mets this year at Citi Field. |

What are the New York Mets Worth? The New York Mets were added to the National League as an expansion franchise in 1962. Their addition was a response to two different baseball issues, the exodus of the Giants and Dodgers from New York and the formation of a third baseball league, the Continental League. |

The guys running Citigroup really don’t have a clue This is going to make people sick.
The good folks over at Citigroup signed a 400 million dollar deal with the New York Mets for the naming right to that team’s new stadium for the next 20 years. That it of itself is not news, big companies do this kind of thing all of the time but the Citi Field del is different, very different then all the others.
